Before You Apply

Individual graduate programs are primarily responsible for dispensing fellowships, graduate assistantships and other funding. You can also find general information about funding through the Graduate College’s Funding Opportunities page. Additionally, the International Student Services website has information regarding funding available for international students.

UC International Student Services assists international applicants in understanding the rules, regulations, and procedures involved with studying in the United States, however, they do not handle admissions. They will be able to assist with questions about visas, I-20s, and offer guidance on additional scholarships you are able to apply for outside of UC and your program. UC International Student Services can be reached at international.services@uc.edu.

For international admission questions, such as questions about English language requirements and tests (TOEFL, ELS), please view the English Proficiency Requirements page or reach out to graduate admissions at grad.admissions@uc.edu.

Yes. You must complete a separate application for each program and pay the fee for each application. You must provide the required materials for each program. Each application requires separate letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation and materials submitted to one program will not be shared with other programs. 

There is no restriction on the number of programs to which a prospective student may apply.

Application fee waivers are granted for U.S. active duty military members and veterans. These waivers will be applied automatically upon submission of those application for those who qualify.

 


Application Process

For prospective students who are ready to start their application or are currently in the process of filling out an application for admission.

Application deadlines vary by program. Some programs admit students every term, while others admit students only once per year. To find out when your application is due, contact the admission contact for your program of interest.

The application fee is paid at the end of your application after you have submitted it. The application portal accepts credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover) or electronic checks.

All materials should be uploaded to the online application. During the application, you will be told which materials are required for the program to which you are applying. Do not send any additional materials; they will not be attached to your application.

No - letters of recommendation need to come directly from the listed recommender on your application via a link created and sent through your online application.

It can take up to three weeks from when you request for your test scores to be submitted from the testing agency for UC to receive your scores. 

Additionally, our system uses your name to match your scores with your application. If the name you inputted for your application differs from the name on your test scores, this may cause an issue in matching the test scores to your application.

No, you cannot edit your application once you submit it. 


After You Apply

For prospective students who have submitted their application.

Individual graduate programs are responsible for determining all admissions decisions, including the timeframe for when decisions will be made. Please contact the program to which you applied to find out more information.

Once a decision has been reached on your application, you will receive an email letting you know that your application status has been updated. If admitted, you will also receive access to the confirmation form where you can confirm your enrollment and pay any matriculation fees. All confirmed students are required to submit official final transcripts (or official transcript evaluations for international applicants) showing bachelor's degree conferral by the start of their first day of classes at UC.

Please be aware that you are expected to enroll in the term for which you have submitted an application. UC does not do rolling admissions. Therefore, if you need to defer your application to a different term than what is indicated on your application, or withdraw an already submitted application, please reach out to the program directly to submit this request.

Deferrals are allowed for up to one year in total. A deferral of a single application beyond one year is not allowed and the applicant will need to re-apply. Admission is not guaranteed.

No - you do not need to request for an official copy of your UC transcript to be submitted as we will be able to access those records.

Due to the high volume of transcripts Graduate Admissions receives each term, there may be a delay in updating your student portal. Please allow up to three weeks for your transcript to be processed. If you have questions regarding your transcripts, please reach out to grad.admissions@uc.edu.
